Taizhou Innovation Park

Invested and developed by Taizhou Urban Construction Investment & Development Group, and led by VAL (Voice Architecture Lab) as the principal design architect, Taizhou Innovation Park has recently officially broken ground. With a total gross floor area of approximately 150,000 square meters, the project represents a precise spatial experiment. Through the systematic integration of urban planning and architectural design, the scheme responds to Taizhou’s ambitions for urban upgrading and high-tech industrial clustering, while resonating with the site’s unique natural context of waterfront landscapes and mountain views adjacent to the high-speed rail gateway.

Taizhou is a resilient city historically shaped by the confluence of mountains, sea, and water. Drawing inspiration from the philosophical imagery of “Kun transforming into Peng” from the classical text Zhuangzi’s Xiaoyaoyou, VAL translates this metaphor into a dynamic spatial strategy.

- Organic circulation: Departing from the rigid typologies of conventional industrial parks, the architectural language adopts flowing geometries that echo the fluid interplay of water and clouds within the regional landscape. This approach lends the building massing a sense of lightness and dynamic movement.

- “The Heart of Peng” – a central collaborative cluster: At the spiritual and energetic core of the campus lies a collective hub defined by shared living rooms across multiple scales and elevated sky bridges. This spatial framework redefines the boundaries of collaboration, allowing cross-disciplinary dialogue and spontaneous encounters to become an everyday spatial condition.

The groundbreaking of Taizhou Innovation Park marks a collaborative effort between VAL, Tongji Architectural Design & Research Institute, SWA, and ULDA, demonstrating once again VAL’s strategic insight and interdisciplinary integration capacity when addressing complex urban R&D headquarters campuses.
