At Voice Architecture Lab, we believe that architecture is the expression of ‘Voice’.
Architects are not merely creators of designs and plans but empathetic interpreters of the meanings and needs behind every project. We strive to listen deeply to the context, culture, program, environment, and users, transforming restrictions and challenges into opportunities with innovative solutions.
Our mission is to create meaningful spaces with limited resources, enriching the value of each project while shaping memorable places and moments in life. We aim to connect the spirit of a place to the memories of its users, delivering designs that inspire and foster deep connections between people and the environment. ”

Taizhou Innovation Park officially begins construction!
Paradigm Definition: An Architectural Framework for Emerging Industries
Amid the macro-scale transition toward “new quality productive forces,” the role of industrial space is undergoing a fundamental transformation. It is no longer merely a container for functional activities, but increasingly a strategic spatial instrument for innovation cultivation and talent retention.
Invested and developed by Taizhou Urban Construction Investment & Development Group, and led by VAL (Voice Architecture Lab) as the principal design architect, Taizhou Innovation Park has recently officially broken ground. With a total gross floor area of approximately 150,000 square meters, the project represents a precise spatial experiment. Through the systematic integration of urban planning and architectural design, the scheme responds to Taizhou’s ambitions for urban upgrading and high-tech industrial clustering, while resonating with the site’s unique natural context of waterfront landscapes and mountain views adjacent to the high-speed rail gateway.
Spatial Strategy: A Design Logic Inspired by the Myth of “Kun and Peng”
Taizhou is a resilient city historically shaped by the confluence of mountains, sea, and water. Drawing inspiration from the philosophical imagery of “Kun transforming into Peng” from the classical text Zhuangzi’s Xiaoyaoyou, VAL translates this metaphor into a dynamic spatial strategy.
Organic circulation: Departing from the rigid typologies of conventional industrial parks, the architectural language adopts flowing geometries that echo the fluid interplay of water and clouds within the regional landscape. This approach lends the building massing a sense of lightness and dynamic movement.
“The Heart of Peng” – a central collaborative cluster: At the spiritual and energetic core of the campus lies a collective hub defined by shared living rooms across multiple scales and elevated sky bridges. This spatial framework redefines the boundaries of collaboration, allowing cross-disciplinary dialogue and spontaneous encounters to become an everyday spatial condition.
This approach represents not only a translation of local cultural narratives, but also a precise response to the contemporary headquarters environment’s increasing demand for informal interaction spaces.
Technology as Driver: System Integration and the Evolution of Architectural Performance
In VAL’s practice, technology is not an auxiliary label but a fundamental driver of spatial evolution. For Taizhou Innovation Park, we introduced systems thinking inspired by aerospace engineering redundancy into the project’s technical foundation.
Performance-driven form optimization: Rather than relying on purely empirical design methods, the project utilizes AI-assisted generative design and environmental simulations to analyze local microclimates and thermal distribution. Through close collaboration with Tongji Architectural Design & Research Institute (joint design team), SWA (landscape design) and ULDA (lighting design), a vertical urban greening system has been introduced. This system functions not merely as ecological landscape but as a precise environmental response mechanism, optimizing energy performance and thermal comfort while establishing a distinctive urban gateway image.
Elastic modularity and dynamic spatial iteration: Inspired by the rapid iteration logic of robotics hardware development, the campus adopts a flexible modular layout capable of accommodating the evolving spatial requirements of high-growth enterprises. The building structure is conceived as an upgradeable hardware platform, enabling the spatial framework to evolve alongside the lifecycle of tenant organizations.
Future interfaces: The master plan strategically reserves vertical take-off and landing infrastructure interfaces for the emerging low-altitude economy, establishing a robust physical foundation for technological transformation and smart operational systems over the coming decades.
A Collaborative Vision Under a Global Perspective
VAL (Voice Architecture Lab) continues to pursue a design methodology that combines the attentive sensitivity of “Voice” with the rigor and experimentation of a “Lab.”
The groundbreaking of Taizhou Innovation Park marks a collaborative effort between VAL, Tongji Architectural Design & Research Institute, SWA, and ULDA, demonstrating once again VAL’s strategic insight and interdisciplinary integration capacity when addressing complex urban R&D headquarters campuses.
We believe that only design rooted in a deep understanding of place, technology, and human needs can sustain long-term value and produce architecture capable of resonating across time.

VAL is honored to share that Yuchieh Chiang, Founding Partner of VAL, has been invited to serve as a jury member for the 2026 Asia Urban Renewal Awards (AURA).
VAL is honored to share that Yuchieh Chiang, Founding Partner of VAL, has been invited to serve as a jury member for the 2026 Asia Urban Renewal Awards (AURA).
The AURA Asia Urban Renewal Awards focus on urban renewal practices within the Asian context, emphasizing not only spatial transformation but also the sustained evolution of cities within their existing structures and real-world conditions. The awards promote a progressive, rational, and humane approach to urban renewal—one that addresses the interdependence of economic vitality, social equity, environmental resilience, and public well-being.
In its 2026 edition, AURA further refines its award framework and evaluation system, introducing top honors such as the Urban Regeneration Exemplary Award, Stock Assets Revitalization Exemplary Award, and Society and Community Contribution Award. The jury brings together experts from diverse disciplines—including urban planning, architecture, development, operation, and public governance—ensuring a multi-dimensional and rigorous evaluation process.
VAL has long been engaged in a wide range of urban renewal and adaptive reuse projects, spanning industrial and research campuses, mixed-use office environments, the transformation of existing buildings, and public space interventions across different scales. We consistently view urban renewal not as a singular design exercise, but as a systemic question encompassing long-term use, operational logic, and the ongoing evolution of urban structures.
With Mr. Chiang’s participation in the AURA jury, VAL approaches the evaluation process from the perspective of a design practice deeply rooted in implementation. Particular attention will be given to a project’s adaptability to real urban conditions, its long-term sustainability, and its potential for replication—qualities that often prove more consequential than short-term visual impact. This role also offers an opportunity to reassess urban renewal projects through the dual lenses of design intent and built reality, with a focus on long-term performance, social impact, and public value.
We look forward to engaging with a broad range of thoughtful and grounded practices emerging across regions, and to contributing to an open and constructive professional dialogue with peers from diverse backgrounds.
Urban renewal offers no singular answer—but professional judgment deserves careful consideration.
